Here is a second video introduction. Which one do you like best?

Welcome to the PT Program

Hello Everyone,
Welcome to PCI’s online Personal Trainer Program. Over the next few months, you will have the opportunity to prepare yourself academically to be a knowledgeable, competent, and extremely professional representative of the personal training profession.

Each academic course that you take here at PCI, from Kinesiology to Sports Nutrition, is an essential building block giving you a depth of knowledge enabling you to become the local resource in your area for almost all things dealing with exercise and personal training.

At the end of the PT program, you will take your eight week externship class; which includes a week of boot camp at the Professional Fitness Institute in Las Vegas, Nevada. While there, you will get CPR and AED (advanced external defibrillator) certified and either sit for the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) personal trainer certification exam (if you are in the AOS program) or the American Council on Exercise’s (ACE) personal trainer certification exam (if you are in the certificate program).

Rebecca Brown ( is your Externship and Boot Camp Coordinator. She will be contacting you soon to introduce herself, and to get you into the right frame of mind for finding your externship and getting ready for boot camp. You are required to complete 160 externship hours over the eight week externship class during the last two months of your program; 100 hours coming from your externship site, and 60 hours from boot camp.

You are going to need to dedicate approximately 20-25 hours per week in this program to be successful. This includes reading the material for the week, answering forum and lab questions, and taking the weekly quiz or final exams. I urge you to get used to setting aside this time each and every week, so that by the time you get to your externship class, you will have trained yourself to have these hours available.

Speaking of training, I urge each one of you, regardless of how busy your schedule is, to work towards accumulating at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise at least five days a week. I am not suggesting that you “workout” at least five days a week, but I am suggesting that you do something active. That way, by the end of your program, you have accumulated at least 11-18 months of consistent exercise and you start looking and feeling like a trainer. For those of you that are already doing it, good job; keep it up! Remember, you are your first client.

Please make sure that you log in at least once a week and turn in your assignments on time. You are in training to become a future leader in the fitness industry, and I expect each and every one of you to take personal responsibility for your success as a student.

If you have questions about the course materials and information, be sure to ask your instructor. If you have questions about anything else related to your educational experience here at PCI, be sure to contact your student success coordinator, or me.

Happy studying!
